Today marked an exciting milestone in our training journey – our first field trip!! It’s one thing to practice commands in the training center, but seeing these incredible dogs navigate a real-world setting brings everything into sharper focus.

Getting in and out of cars, maneuvering through aisles, maintaining focus amid distractions – all these skills we’ve been honing came together in a practical way. It was remarkable to see how each team handled the challenges of a public space, working together with growing confidence and trust. What seemed daunting just days ago now feels achievable, though we’re all still learning and growing together.

We’re somehow already halfway through our training, which feels almost impossible to believe. Time seems to be playing tricks on us – some moments stretch out as we master new skills, while others fly by in a blur of learning and bonding. Each day brings new challenges and achievements, and watching everyone’s progress is truly inspiring.

Today also brought a special treat – lunch prepared by the local chapter volunteers. While we’ve been fortunate to enjoy catered meals throughout our stay, there was something particularly touching about a meal made with such care by the volunteers who help make this program possible. Meeting these dedicated individuals who give their time and energy to support the mission of service dog training added another layer of warmth to our experience.

As we reflect on today’s adventures, it’s amazing to see how far each team has come in just a few days. The bonds are strengthening, confidence is growing, and our dogs are showing us more of their personalities each day. The reality of how these partnerships will enhance our lives is becoming clearer with each passing moment.
